Join the California Nature Art Museum & Community Clayworks for an art workshop at the Museum, creating bee baths for the home garden. Participants will learn to sculpt an open, flat flower with elevated petals throughout to create safe landing spots for the bees, as well as paint their pieces with colorful underglazes. After firing and clear glazing, completed pieces will be available for pick up in-person at the Museum or can be shipped by request (for an additional fee).

October 14th | Upcycling Art Workshop with Elizabeth Criss

Join us at The Wildling Museum on Saturday, October 14th, 1 – 3 p.m. for a memorable afternoon with exhibiting artist Elizabeth Criss, whose work is currently featured in Message in a Bottle in the Michele Kuelbs Tower Gallery. Criss will guide attendees in an upcycling art workshop transforming household plastic discards into an eco-friendly fridge fishscape inspired by her own underwater creations on view at the Museum.

Workshop participants will make two (or more!) of their own magnetic fish to take home, along with newfound skills to turn old plastics into artworks of their own creation.

January 29th | Create a Nature Journal with Artist Kathy Badrak

Start the New Year off right and join artist Kathy Badrak in making your own nature journal on Sunday, January 29, 2023, 12:30 - 4:30 p.m. at the Wildling Museum. This class will provide a fun and easy introduction to the art of handmade bookmaking.

Attendees will create a simple bound journal perfect for setting intentions for the New Year, sketching, nature journaling, and more! Books will include pockets for collecting natural specimens and a magnifying glass to assist in your outdoor journal studies and doodles.

Class fee is $50 and includes all required materials. Class size is limited to 12 participants, advance registration required.

Enjoy a relaxing afternoon making two different style ornaments with artist and instructor Cydney Miller! Get in the holiday spirit and learn how to collage gold and silver leaf ornaments and then try your hand at elegant origami cranes and butterflies with festive specialty papers and decorative accents. Create one-of-a-kind holiday gifts or keep them up year-round as beautiful wall hangings! Class participants will make two of each style ornament, taking home four works of art in total.

Class registration fee is $35 and includes all required supplies and materials. Suitable for students ages 12 (with supervision) to adult, limited to 12 participants.

Rock wrapping is an art form rooted in Japanese tradition. Wrapped stones could be used in Japanese gardens to guide visitors along a prescribed route or the correct spiritual path. Today, there are many variations of rock wrapping using many different materials. For this workshop, attendees will learn two methods of rock wrapping to create your own serenity stone.
