The California Nature Art Museum is pleased to present a straight-from-the-heart juried exhibition showcasing California’s wildlife on the edge of survival, and the special lands that sustain and protect them. When the Earth Whispers Back: Nature’s Hope will be on view from March 15th 2026 - September 6th 2026, and features approximately artworks juried from a pool of more than 100 submissions by Women Painters West, competing for $1,000 in awards.
This exhibition will center on plant and animal species that are endangered, or threatened, or even extinct, and areas of land set aside for the conservation and preservation of these species. Its artists are presenting this show with the purpose of bringing attention to the beauty and fragility of their subjects, as well as promoting better protection and stewardship of our ecosystems.
Executive Director Stacey Otte-Demangate and Assistant Director Rachel Metz will be the jurors and will select 1st , 2nd , and 3rd Place Winners and three Honorable Mentions. This show is offered as a special benefit to CalNAM, with all featured works being available for sale and 40 percent of proceeds benefitting the Museum.

About Women Painters West
Founded in 1921 in Laguna Beach, Women Painters West is a non-profit membership corporation with educational, benevolent, fraternal and charitable objectives. Their mission is to provide women painters with fellowship in an artistic community with an emphasis on elevating creative standards and providing exhibition venues for its diverse group of dedicated artists. Additionally, WPW offers financial ·assistance to encourage the development of emerging artists for the betterment of the individual and culture of the general community.
In recent years, Women Painters West has been composed of some 200 dedicated women artists working in all mediums, committed to the practice of art. Women Painters West includes among its members art instructors in all levels of art education. Many members exhibit individually in galleries, museums, and universities and have been recognized and honored nationally and internationally. Membership is by application and juried selection.
